Classifications

Some providers listed in the Family Services Directory offer services/programmes that are targeted at a specific audience.

You can identify these providers by the "Classifications" that appear in the Results page of a search.

If you want to save search results to refer to later, you can select one or more providers to add to the selected providers page and view, print or save them.

This can be useful if you are compiling a list of useful providers to give to a client, friend or family member.

How to select providers

Search for the details you want, then use the "Select" option to the right of the result you want.

If you want to remove the provider from your selected providers, use the "Remove" option.

Important: Your selections will be saved for the duration of your search session (thirty minutes, or until you close your internet browser).

How to view your selected providers

To access your selected providers, you can use the "View selected provider(s)" option.

You can also view or clear your selection from the Home page

Your selected providers will display in an alphabetical list. You can also choose to view them on a map using the "Show on map" option.

How to download selected providers

You can download your selected providers using the "Download to PDF" (Portable Document Format) and "Download to RTF" (Rich Text Format) options.

  • PDF is a widely-used format that retains its formatting and is easy to share.
  • RTF is compatible with Microsoft Word and other word processing programmes. Downloading to RTF will allow you to edit and format the file as you wish.

If you wish to print or email your selected providers, we recommend that you save the file first.

Please note, if you do not have a PDF reader installed on the computer you are using, you may need to download one. There is a PDF reader called "Adobe Reader" that you can download for free from the Adobe website.

If you know the name of the organisation you're searching for, the A-Z of Providers is a quick way to find them. You can find a link to the A-Z providers index on the home page.

Providers are listed alphabetically. Select the provider name link to view their details.

Those with a down arrow icon next to their name have branches or affiliates associated with them. Select the down arrow icon to display the branches/affiliates for that provider.

Look up a provider name

You can also look up a provider name on the A - Z Providers page.

Enter the provider name or part thereof, then press search.

The directory will then do a search on provider name only and display the results.

If you want a snapshot of providers in your local area in an easy-to-print format, you can build a community directory.

To do this, go to this link "Create your own directory" from the page footer and follow the instructions.

PDF or RTF Format

You can choose to create your community directory in either PDF (Portable Document Format) or RTF (Rich Text Format)

  • PDF is a widely-used format that retains its formatting and is easy to share.
  • RTF is compatible with Microsoft Word and other word processing programmes. Creating an RTF format directory will allow you to edit and format the file as you wish.

If you wish to print or email your community directory, we recommend that you save the file first.

Please note, if you do not have a PDF reader installed on the computer you are using, you may need to download one. There is a PDF reader called "Adobe Reader" that you can download for free from the Adobe website.

Printing your community directory

Once you have created your community directory, you may wish to print it.
You can select what paper size and layout you want using the print settings in your PDF reader or Word processing programme.

If you are using Adobe Reader, follow these instructions to print your community directory as an A5 booklet.

  1. Select the File menu, and then the Print option
  2. From the Print option page, select the "Booklet" option
  3. Select the Print button.

Your community directory will print on standard A4-sized paper, but each page will have two sections. Once all the pages have printed, fold them in half horizontally, and you should have an A5-sized booklet.

If you are using a different PDF reader, please refer to the Help option in your PDF reader for instructions on how to print your community directory as a booklet.

Important notes:

  • Please make sure you have enough paper in your printer. Some community directories will be over a hundred pages long, even in booklet form.
  • If your community directory is too big to print, you may wish to create a directory for a single district rather than a whole region or multiple districts
  • If you want to edit your community directory before printing it in booklet format you can choose the Create RTF option instead. Once you've edited the directory in a word processing programme, you can print the file to PDF and follow the instructions to print the PDF in booklet format.
