Te Rito Collaborative Networks

Te Rito Collaborative Networks are community-based family violence networks that come together to prevent family violence in 31 communities across New Zealand.   They strengthen a community's ability to effectively prevent and respond to family violence by enhancing existing systems, increasing community ownership and the service response wrapped around families and whānau.

The Networks aim to:

  • raise awareness about family violence and encourage the community to get organised to prevent it
  • carry out prevention and early intervention work in this sector including training, building relationships outside the family violence sector and promoting the services of its members
  • provide an opportunity for groups to work together in complimentary ways in response to family violence
  • support crisis response to family violence through information sharing and collaborative case management.

They improve inter-agency co-ordination, collaboration and communication between  groups and encourage the development of whole of community strategies to prevent family violence.
