Supporting Parents Centre
Family and Community Services funds Parents Centre to train a minimum of 1000 volunteers to deliver two hour parenting workshops for families in their local communities.
Parents Centres NZ Inc has 51 Centres across the country and provides one of the largest parenting networks and associated infrastructure to support parents and their children aged 0-6. It is a primary provider of antenatal Education and childbirth support in New Zealand, with 120 plus diploma and certified Childbirth Educators.
The training sessions supported by Family and Community Services are targeted towards 30-40% of families who are at risk of poor outcomes.
The training sessions assist volunteers to become more confident in delivering parenting information and ensure the Parents Centre parenting programmes are delivered to a high standard.
