Positive parenting
Great parents love and nurture their kids. Great parenting is also about talking, listening, guiding and understanding. It's about providing structure, being consistent and ensuring consequences. Parents who provide this kind of support increase their children's ability to live successfully in the world around them. Our programmes that contribute to positive parenting include the following:
Freephone support for people seeking information and advice on parenting, child and family support and family violence issues.
Web resources providing links to information and resources for all members of the family - parents, young people, working age people and older people.
A personal home visiting service that helps parents understand how their infant develops and learns, and how best they can help their child reach their full potential.
Training for volunteers delivering Parents Centre parent parenting programmes.
Older people providing one-on-one life and home skills mentoring to families and individuals in need.
A community-driven programme that builds parents skills in raising their children in a positive, loving way, using limits & boundaries.
WTITO promotes positive parenting skills, confident family functioning, relationships, health and well being for whānau.
