Local Services Mapping: Whangarei
Whangarei District is situated on the east coast of the upper North Island, encompassing a coastline spanning 270 kilometers, broad stretches of agricultural land, and two offshore island groups.
Stakeholders were involved in the LSM process in Whangarei by way of community network meetings, hui and one-on-one meetings, with a stock take of all local services available in the area to support families being undertaken. Additional information and data was collected via community provider questionnaires, phone and email.
The report identifies several priority areas for action for service providers in the district:
- Wellbeing of young people
- Drug, alcohol and mental health services
- Family violence
- Emergency housing
