Local Services Mapping: Waimakariri
Waimakariri District lies to the north of Christchurch. For the past 20 years, it has been among the fastest growing districts in New Zealand. The district has a mix of urban and rural communities. Recently, populations in rural areas have increased, including greater numbers of families with dependent children.
This report was compiled by four cross-sector reference groups (listed below), identified in consultation with existing interagency networks. The LSM process drew upon a joint initiative by Family and Community Services, the Department of Internal Affairs, and the Waimakariri District Council: the Vision and Action Cafes process. This initiative allows communities to participate in developing Waimakariri District Council’s Long Term Council Community Plans.

- Waimakariri Community Network group
- Waimakariri District Council
- Waimakariri Safer Community Council.
