Taupo District Council has targeted improving outcomes for young people as a key social outcomes strategy. Council has indicated that creating an overview for young people in the outlying towns of Turangi and Mangakino would assist this endeavour.
This stock take is intended to inform community stakeholders as they identify and plan improvements to services that will make a measurable difference in the lives of Turangi’s young people. It is presented as a starting place for a Turangi community planning process, from which specific actions will be identified to improve outcomes for Turangi’s young people. It is expected that Turangi’s young people will play an important role in this planning process.
This report provides an overview of how young people in Turangi are supported by services that are provided or funded by government, and those services that are provided by the Turangi community itself.
