Local Services Mapping: Rotorua
In Rotorua, the tourism industry together with manufacturing and primary industries generate economic prosperity. However, its socio-economic deprivation is higher than the national average. Almost a third of Rotorua residents live in decile 9 or 10 areas: those considered among the most social-economically deprived in New Zealand.
This report is the product of a partnership between Family and Community Services and the Rotorua District Council. It was developed by a steering group comprising representatives from central and local government and community agencies. All the participating agencies work with Rotorua’s young people and the wider community.
