Local Services Mapping: Kaikoura

Kaikoura District is somewhat geographically isolated and has many of the characteristics associated with remote, rural communities. However, because it is a major tourism destination and is situated on State Highway 1, it has to cater for a significant number of visitors. Due to its location, decisions made at national level often have a direct impact upon the town.

Key participants in the LSM process included:

  • Kaikoura District Council – Social Services Committee
  • Kaikoura Strengthening Families Local Management Group
  • Ngai Tahu.
