This LSM community report provides a common starting point for all parties to begin meaningful and robust discussion about social development in Franklin. The consultation process and subsequent analysis of the information gathered in Franklin resulted in the following three priority areas for action for the district:
- Young people – There is a perceived lack of appropriate facilities and services for young people in Franklin outside of sporting clubs.
- Family violence – There is a perceived lack of appropriate services to address family violence issues in the district. In particular, there is a need to increase provider capacity to deliver to deliver programmes for non-mandated clients in the district.
- Social service sector development – There is a feeling that social services (eg counseling, budgeting, transport) and social infrastructure (eg collaborate forums, good practice/peer support groups) in general need to be further developed in the district.
For each of these priorities, recommendations and opportunities have been identified that will be considered during the action planning stage of Franklin’s LSM process.
