Local Services Mapping: Buller

The project is governed by the West Coast Strengthening Families Local Management Group, with support from Buller District Council, Te Rito Family Violence network, the Settling In project group, and the disability provider support network.
The following priorities for this project were identified through a series of consultation meetings with community providers, Government agency representatives and the Buller District Council:
- Access to Services – particularly regarding the need to travel large distances to services in rural areas where public transport is non-existent
- Older People – with a focus on access to specialist services and dementia care
- Housing – with a focus on the availability of affordable, healthy and appropriate housing and rental options
- Education for young people – with the focus on quality education, training and employment options
- Cultural Diversity and Social Change – with a focus on newcomers to the region
- Environment – future employment sustainability for the region
- Youth Perspective on Issues
