Family Services Directory
The Family Services Directory (formerly named Family and Community Services National Directory) is an online directory that lists over 5,500 social services for families and communities throughout New Zealand.
Connecting families with people who can help
It makes it easier for families to access a range of family related services and programmes that support them and help them cope with everyday issues and problems.
The Directory is provided by Family and Community Services as part of its goal to improve access to services for individuals and families. It is the only directory that lists social services throughout New Zealand. It can be accessed through the Family and Community Services website listed below.
The Directory is also used by organisations that support people and families. This includes government and non-government agencies and community organisations who use it to identify and refer their clients to other social services.
The Directory, which is free to list on, is an effective way for non-profit community-based organisations to raise their profile and connect with the people they want to help. As an online channel it is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Main elements of the Directory include:
- search or browse functions by keyword, service type, district or region
- comprehensive provider details including contact details and hours of operation
- accurate listings which can be updated by providers online.
The Directory is also used as the platform for family support helplines such as the 211 Helpline, the Family Violence Help Line and the Ministry of Justice Victims Advocates line.
