Tamariki Ora: A new beginning

Maori Television will mark Matariki, the Maori New Year, with a landmark broadcast to raise awareness and identify solutions to the issue of child abuse.

Tamariki Ora: A New Beginning will comprise a total of five hours of primetime programming over two nights – Sunday June 27 and Monday June 28 from 8pm – including a musical tribute from some of New Zealand’s top artists, as well as real-life stories of men and women who took a stand against violence in their midst for the sake of their children.

Executive producer and presenter, Carol Hirschfeld, says the special broadcast offers whānau from all walks of life the inspiration and tools to prevent violence and support families. “The men and women who have shared their stories are honest and real people who reached out for help and made conscious decisions to change their lives for the better. I hope that this landmark broadcast will inspire us all to play a part in eradicating child violence in New Zealand.”
