Heartland Services Meet Rural Needs
The recently completed 2009 Heartland Services customer satisfaction survey confirms the important role that Heartland Service Centres play in rural communities.
Heartland Centres provide a one-stop shop for improved access to government and community services for people living in smaller centres.
Last year, New Zealanders made more than 100,000 visits to the 35 Heartland Centres throughout the country. The centres provide access to a broad mix of services – approximately 25 central government agencies and more than 50 community organisations participate in the Heartlands initiative.
Heartlands clients as well as participating government and community organisations took part in the survey, which was conducted in the first quarter of 2009.
Overall, 95% of clients said Heartlands Services made it easier for them to access services in their communities; and 95% of participating agencies said Heartland Centres allowed them to provide improved access to services for their clients.
The survey results will be used to help identify opportunities to further enhance the value of Heartlands.
