Overview of funding at Family and Community Services
Family and Community Services funds community-based organisations to deliver services for families, children, young and older people.
We fund the following types of services that provide:
- support for families at vulnerable times
- early intervention and prevention
- family violence prevention
- interventions for youth
- information and advice
- a change in attitudes and behaviours
- social cohesion and participation
The principles that underpin our approach to funding and contracting include:
- trust
- accountability
- openness and transparency
- value for money
- fairness and integrity
We also:
- comply with the Public Finance Act 1989
- only fund activities that comply with Ministry priorities
- comply with all other relevant legislation (Treasury, Office of the Auditor General) when contracting for services and where appropriate obligations under the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act (1989)
