Community Response Model

The Community Response Model transforms the way government funds social services and gives communities a say in the services and support they need. It aims to deliver real results for families and better value for the New Zealand taxpayer.

CRM recognises that local people understand their communities best. This gives them an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process and develop local solutions to fit their community's needs.

The model shifts the focus from centrally made decision-making to community planning, and enabling communities to have a say in the decisions that affect them. Results will be tracked so we can be sure these services are making a difference.

Fourteen regional forums have been established throughout New Zealand  to assess the impact of family and community support services, in their region, against Government priorities.

These local forums will consider existing MSD family and community services funding and make recommendations to the Minister for Social Development and Employment on how funding can be better directed to improve services and make a real difference to local families.
