Family Start Study Awards

The Family Start study awards were established to allow Family Start employees to study part-time towards qualifications in social work, health or early childhood education. The awards are administered by Family and Community Services.

Fifty study awards are available each year for a four-year period from 2006 – 2009. All providers are notified once the process is underway.

The current application round is being held for applicants who can begin their study in 2009.

The awards include up to $3,000 per year in course fees, up to $5,200 per year in study support as well as a one-off payment of up to $3,000 towards recruitment costs to provide backfill for students on placement. The maximum overall award is $43,200 per employee over a period of six years of study. All of these costs are inclusive of GST.
