Obtaining Funding
There are two ways to obtain funding administered by Family and Community Services (FACS):
- apply for a national initiative
- apply for local funding - talk to your nearest Regional Advisor - Funding, about local needs and available funding
National initiative funding
FACS invites applications for funding to particular programmes at particular times of the year. Applications are selected by a panel of selectors using evaluation criteria.
The type of tendering process, application forms, evaluation criteria, amount of funding and the make up of selection panels depends on the nature of the programme.
In some situations, approval by Child, Youth and Family (under the Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1989 as able to deliver social services) is required before you can access funding.
Some examples of national initiative funding include:
- Community Initiatives Fund
- Elder Abuse Neglect Prevention Services
- Family Start Programme
- NGO Social Worker Study Awards
- SAGES - Older People as Mentors
- Settling In (Refugee and Migrant Services)
Local funding
FACS regional staff work with communities and other government and local government agencies to identify service needs and capacity in their local community.
At the beginning of each calendar year a regional funding plan is developed in light of government priorities, regional needs, and the funding made available by government.
If you are interested in applying for funding, please contact a Regional Advisor - Funding in your area.
