Local Services Mapping: Taranaki
The Taranaki region is located in the central south west of the North Island, and is comprised of three different districts: Stratford, New Plymouth and South Taranaki. The Taranaki LSM process was done slightly differently to other local territorial authority areas in the country, with each of the region’s three districts developing individual LSM reports but sharing common priority areas of concern.
The three district reports identify several priority areas for action for service providers in the region:
- Substance abuse
- Support and education for parents
- Affordable housing
- Rural and public transport
- Counselling
- Financial stability for low-income families
- Mental health
