This section contains information about the programmes and initiatives that Family and Community Services is involved in to support communities in New Zealand.

Initiatives include:

  • Integrated Contracts
    Designed to simplify the contracting process for service providers.
  • Settling In
    A programme that works with migrant and refugee communities to develop social services that meet their needs.
  • Local Services Mapping
    A community-wide approach to improve services that support the well being of families and communities.
  • NGO Social Worker Study Awards
    Supporting employees of non-government organisations (NGOs) who have previously studied, or who are already studying, and who want to complete a social work qualification that meets the educational requirements for social work registration.
  • Building Capacity in the Community Sector
    A project that looks at what information, resources and services are currently available to help people run community and voluntary organisations and what is required.
  • Planning for an Influenza Pandemic
    A resource for community organisations to make it easier for them to access information to help plan for an influenza pandemic.
  • Support for Community-Based Services for Families, Children and Young People
    Pathway to Partnership is a multi-year strategy aimed at strengthening essential community based services for families, children and young people.
