Safety in the home

What are the chances of getting hurt at home? In New Zealand, more people are injured in the home than at work, on the road, or while playing sport. But there are things we can all do to reduce our kids and partners getting hurt.

Children are naturally curious, so keeping medicines and cleaning products out of sight and out of reach is important. Tidying toys away or using non-slip mats in the bathroom take so little time and are so simple, but reduce the risk of accidents and injury.

Plunket has tips for making your home safer for your kids. Child Safety Australia, Home Safety, and Children First have lots of ideas for keeping your home safe. And the Home Safety Council has tips and checklists for safety in and around your home.
